Sedation and General Anesthesia

The dental treatment process may cause anxiety, fear or hypersensitivity for some patients. Especially for children, disabled individuals or adults with dental phobia, sedation or general anesthesia methods may be preferred to increase compliance with treatment and provide comfort. As Dehadent Genius Clinic, we offer these advanced applications with our experienced anesthesia doctors, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.

What is Sedation?

Sedation is a mild to moderate sedative method used to eliminate anxiety and stress while the patient is conscious. The patient is relaxed, less sensitive to their surroundings and has a comfortable experience during the procedure with sedative drugs, which are usually administered intravenously. Under sedation:

  1. The patient is conscious but relaxed,
  2. The feeling of pain is minimal,
  3. The feeling of anxiety and fear disappears during the treatment,
  4. The ability to recall memories after the procedure may decrease.

Sedation is especially effective in long-lasting procedures or in patients who are hypersensitive to dental treatment.

What is General Anesthesia?

General anesthesia is a method in which the patient is completely asleep and consciousness is temporarily turned off. No pain or discomfort is felt during the operation. This method is especially preferred in the following cases:

  1. Individuals with severe fear of the dentist,
  2. In young children who cannot cooperate,
  3. In patients with mental or physical disabilities,
  4. When more than one procedure needs to be performed in the same session.

General anesthesia procedures are performed in a fully equipped clinic environment and under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. The patient is monitored in the resting area after the procedure and is safely awakened from anesthesia.
